Drove by the house today and the contractors have the roof torn up.... Looks like they only have to put the shingles back on now......

No workers! We figure no one will be at house until after the new year.

John and Ric worked on patching holes during their lunch today...... No contractors today :(

Day 21

John is nearly complete with Meadows bedroom. Just need to fix the floor where the closets use to be, and after new carpeting gets put in we will build a new closer in one of the corners for her.

Day 20

Today John, Ric, Aaron, and Andrew worked in several projects at the house while Meadow and I was at Seussical! Also the subcontractor was at the house working on the floor. The electrical guy was at the house working on it, and several people wet finishing the priming in the upstairs.....

Day 19

Well went and bought a toilet along with a kitchen base cabinet. We purchased them from Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Dad and I dropped them off at the house. No workers were there, but more materials for the floor.

Spoke with subcontractor and told him about items purchased and materials in driveway. He said they will be working tomorrow in floor.

Day 18

The contractor sent me two pictures if the living room floor... yikes!!!! It really needed work. He said that people should not go into the house unless they are on site because if safety issues. He mentioned that the flooring should be finished by Saturday, and then to the ceiling/chimney area!

Day 17

The contractor just called and asked that I meet him at the house this afternoon. He said he has the new paperwork almost finished.... Will update again when I know more.

Well the flooring in the living room, the chimney, and hopefully the downstairs plumbing for toilet are getting fixed. That means everything else is up to us (paint, cabinets in kitchen, meadows ceiling & flooring, holes in walls, upstairs bath, and all the cleaning of fixtures & tubs)!

Mom is going to buy a new toilet forfeit downstairs bathroom, but now we need to buy a new base cabinet for the kitchen sink.... Steven the contractor said all of the lower cabinets in kitchen are at a loss. He said the island is ok, and possibly the old pan closet mom has is ok to put back in.

Tomorrow the living room floor us being demolished as it is fixing to get a raise. Let's just hope that when they lift the floors that the chimney doesn't cone through the roof.

Day 16

The house is looking empty, but most of it is primed.  The contractor, Steven, asked to meet with everyone because of issues that was going on with house (living room floor, chimney, downstairs bathroom plumbing, mold in bathroom upstairs).

After the meeting...... John told them just do the minimum to make it livable.  Mom told them to concentrate on the three major issues at hand (floor, chimney, plumbing).

Day 15

Well stopped by the house today.... Work is getting done, and it looks great! However the contractor did come across four issues.... 1) mold in several spots 2) the floor and floor joints have rotted in several areas in the living room (see picture) 3) the downstairs bathroom has some major plumbing issues - needs a plumber (see picture) 4) the downstairs toilet needs replaced

Day 14

Drive by the house about 3:30, and it did not look like anyone had been at the house.

Day 13 update

I stopped by the house after mom called and in my way downtown.... The house was being worked on. They said they had only been at the house for about an hour. Subcontractor said he should only be about 2-3 weeks with his part.

Day 13

Mom called with good news this morning.... Her and dad went by the house the check the mail, and guess what? A crew was at the house working!!!!

Day 12 update

Mom called this morning and said dad went back by house after he dropped her off at work... He told her more lumber was at the house, and that an electrical guy was there looking at wiring and braker box.

Day 12

Mom talked to John the site manager.. Told him that no work was being done at the house. He said he would take care of it...... Told him we have only seen people out here a handful of times....

Within 15minutes if talking to him lumber supplies was being dropped off.

Oh dad decided to rake out dishwasher on his own even though it was the contractors job.

Day 11

Nothing from the contractors yet!!!!! However John called from work, and he said that a giant dumpster is sitting in the front yard. And he drove by at about 7:30am this morning. But again no one at the house!

Leon, project manager finally called at about 12:15pm and ask if I was free this afternoon to meet them. I told him I would be in area at 2:45pm because I had to pick Andrew up from school. He said ok....

Well drove by house and stopped to see progress.... Just what no one at the house. Mom was not to happy with that news.

At about 2:25, chris the carpet person called to say he would be at house between 3-3:15 to meet with me..

3:25 and the carpet guy showed up. He measured everything, and I picked a color. He said it would be 3-4 weeks before we see him again.

Day 10 update

Drove by the house after getting Andrew from school, and guess who was at the house...... If guessed the project manager, you are correct.

He said they are starting tomorrow, and that they were finishing up money stuff today. Said the carpet person should call in the morning to meet with meet. Also said they are going to change the electrical in the living room (switch by fireplace) and wire Meadows bedroom to have only one switch..... They did not know or find the track lifts in the living room either. Oh, did I mention that they want to charge me per paint color I use in the house..... So after talking to John, we will go with the main color throughout the house, and we will go in and paint the kids rooms along the kitchen. Also, found out that that might charge me for moving the kitchen island back 1 foot from where it is at right now. Plus side they said they will probably finish the rest if the work in Meadows room.

Progress

I was looking at the progress of the contractors work, and well it does not look good. The contract with the contractors were signed November 17th, and tomorrow will be three weeks from that date. During that time they have only been to the house twice. Once to get the items that needed to be stored (day 1) and then the project manager & subcontractor went out to look at everything (day 3). Other then that nothing.......... Boo!

Day 10

Well, it is 1:08pm and no one has called me to say they are on the way to the house to start work.  Dad stopped by just a few minutes ago (as he was going to the doctors), and he said he just left the house and no one was there. I'm starting to think that Assurance Restoration was not the choice to make for a contractor.

Day 9

We are at day 9 and nothing still. I called Leon the project manager. He said that the subcontractor is to start demo tomorrow. He said he will call on his way to the house since the first thing they will do is electrical, and he knows some electrical is going to change.

Day 5 - 8

Nothing has been happening with the contractors... No one has called or discussed anything with anyone. I hope things get started soon.

Day 4

Well no word from the project manager today yet...... Hopefully I hear something soon!

Day 3

Well just drove by the house on the way to school, and well no one there. Hopefully the project manager and the subcontractor made it to the house.... Sure would like to see some work take place.

Day 2

Well drove by the house on the way to get Andrew from school, and it looks like the contractors haven't been over. No dumpsters yet outside!!!!

After talking with my dad, I found out no one had been to the house today. So I called the contractor, and he said he would be at the house tomorrow with the subcontractor. He also said he'll have a list for me Thursday or Friday. That way construction can start either friday or Saturday.

Day 1 - take two

Today I met the contractor and movers at the house..... They are moving things out this morning, and then the project manager is going to meet with the subcontractor this afternoon... Yippee!!

Day 1 update

Well day 1 did not start yesterday as planned.... The project manager called mom this morning, and told her that they will be over Monday morning to move things out along with starting construction.....

So now to wait until Monday!

Today John and I finished putting up the wall. Plus my parents finished moving everything out for the construction movers to come and get.... They should be over sometime after 2pm...... Then construction demo begins tomorrow hopefully!!!

Yesterday I worked on removing the mural from the living room wall.  If you look back at BEFORE pictures of the room, you can see a bit of it in one picture.  I still have a little more to finish on it today. I will post pictures later of the progress.
